Well hello there, my name is Nexcy. I'm currently 21yrs old and an English Linguistics major at the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez. I'm in my 4th year and am expected to graduate in May 2013. Hopefully my goal can be achieved and get accepted into the Masters program.

I was born and raised in Spanish Harlem, New York and moved to Puerto Rico after my 8th grade graduation at the age of 13. I wasn't excited at first because my life was in New York and I didn't have any family in Puerto Rico, both of my parents are dominican so going to a different place where you weren't really introduced to was a difficult step, but 7 years later I was able to manage and I actually love it. Funny thing was that I was in the honor roll in elementary and middle school, but by the time I attended 9th grade in Puerto Rico (still considered middle school by the way) that honor roll status went down hill. Everything was in Spanish, though I was able to speak Spanish rather well and was able to defend myself, it wasn't my dominant language in academics. Eventually in high school I was able to get back in the honor roll until I got to the University.... but it's all good!

I use to be in chorus for 5yrs straight in elementary and middle school so my favority "secret" hobby is singing. I use to play the clarinet in my 5th grade band session and I am proud to announce that the only song I managed to accomplish to learn was 'Mary had a little lamb' and I learned it well! I also use to play hockey in the 3rd grade, I remember learning how to skate with a chair and irony is I no longer know how to skate, I tried skating a month ago in Bryant Park, New York and all that 3rd grade training in vain! but it's alright balance is key. I travel to New York and back every year and I can honestly tell you that before I couldn't wait to move back to New York, but now... now I'm not so sure. I'm so use to being in Puerto Rico and the peace and quiet and the countryside of it all that even though I would eventually go to New York, I'm not in a rush. Besides I always wanted a dog (huge dog lover) when I was little and I have 5! so I wouldn't want to leave them.
