The evidence that I choose to use is a PowerPoint presentations about social movements for my Sociology class. The assignment was to give a PowerPoint presentation about Social Movements. We had to present it to the class as if we were the teachers. The social movement that I decided to use was the Travon Martin case. I first beginned with the definition of Social movements and then stated social movements in the past. Some social movements that changed history today Is the civil rights movement and women rights. After words I asked the students to give me an example of social movements that they see are present today. I continued with my lesson on the stages of social movements. There are small social movements such as the animal rights which is an organization that prevents the abuse of animals. This is considered a small movement because it has a couple of hundred members. The civil rights movement would be considered a big movement because it was a worldwide issue with over 100,000 people. I then presented the class with the recent social movement about the Travon Martin case. I asked them their personal outtake of the issue. After hearing their opinions I presented them facts about the case and national movements that are being done. I ended the presentation with a question for the class. The question was “do you think that social movements have any impact in today’s society or do the government control everything”. I got the students opinions and ended the lesson.
