Standard 3: Individual Learning Differences

There are many different approaches for dealing with individual differences amongst students. You can develop events of instruction that take them into account as part of the instructional process. As a teacher you can provide some sort of grouping, either between classes or within the classroom itself, in order to decrease or accommodate for the variability with respect to student background, achievement, ability or some other characteristic. We are taught to use the least restrictive setting for our individual learners. The education department preferred an inclusive setting for these students so that they wouldn’t feel different. You can also modify the circumstances within which instruction is taking place. We have to establish a set of learning goals and goals for an individual student. For various students, it can make the difference between failure and success. We need to focus on the student’s exceptional set of strengths, challenges, interests and learning styles. The evident that I choose is from my Education 310 class. It is a behavior intervention and or management Project for a particular student with behavioral problems. I had to go to a school and observe an inclusive classroom with a student with behavior problem and we had to observer the student over a period of time and come up with a plan that will be fitting for that specific behavior. We had to record the date; time and account of that behavior and record how many times that behavior occur and do the behavior interrupt other students from learning and come up with a behavior plan that will help the control his behavior so learning can take place for him and his classmates.
