Reflection Based on Personal and Global Consciousness

This evidence meets the standard of Personal and Gobal Consciousness, which states that candidates ecamine, deconstruct, and reconstruct their own and others' beliefs, values and perspectives to understand their own cultures and to develop empathy and acceptance towards others' cultures. when writing my autobiograhy on my educational experience from infancy to the present, which was for education 102 class, there were many aspects of global and personal consciousness that attributed to my development and experiences during my lifetime.

I began to realize how the defferent aspects of the education philosophies mentioned in the readings that I mentioned in my autobiography have shaped my beliefs, values and perspective from infancy to the present.  As a child I knew I didn't like the way my teachers taught back in elementary school, even though it was the norm back then to be strict disciplinarians, where kids were to be seen and not heard.  I realized at a young age that this way of teaching wasn't the best, even though it had many good principles that helped in my upbringing.  I also developed empathy and acceptance towards others cultures, when I realized that the teachers I had in elementary school didn't know any other methods of teaching because, they were only teaching what was handed down to them from their own cultures.  Their beliefs, values and perspective were shaped by their cultures.

Writing an autobiography helped me to understand and treasure education that will help me as an aspiring teacher. We all have a story and we are who we are because, of the social, cultural and personal impact of the society we grew up in. I also learned that those social, cultural and personal impact that were placed upon me caused me to react.  I wanted to be a teacher becaue of the negative and also positive impact that was in my society.  One of the peositive impacts that shaped my beliefs is that ot my home economics teacher.  She believed that education was child centered.  On the other hand, one of the negative forces of impact was the method of discipline  used by my elementary teachers.  This assignment helped me to realize that I need to make a chang in the way kids are being taught.  This evidence showed me that I am competent of my abilities of being a teacher that can display growth, development and performance in the standard of Personal and Gobal Consiciousness.
