Teaching Boys and Girls Separately by Elizabeth Weil

In this article Leonard Sax explained very precisely why boy and girls should be taught separately. His claim was based on a research that was conducted on 96 adults that were male and female and he found that they were different in cognitive responses when it come to light, he noted that boys do not hear as well as girls. In his claim he said that because of the way boys understand concepts they are not taken seriously by teachers and most teachers praise their girls students while the boys are upbraid for not doing drawings similar to the girls when they are unable to do so because of their genetic makeup. He strongly believes that single sex education will help boys drastically since the do not have to compete with the girls in the classroom for teacher attention. This will help in improving their academic performance thus closing the current gap between them and their female counterparts.

Leonard Sax put forward a strong argument as to why boys and girls should be taught separately however, I do not agree with him since I think that boys and girls need to interact early in life so that they can learn one another.  The best way to learn about someone is to be around them. You cannot exclude them from interacting in the classroom since they need to tolerate and be respectful of others. By being around the opposite sex you learn communicating skill. Schools are the place to gain important habits or skills that are essential for their lives. The most important skill they may learn at a school is communicating with other people. Studying together makes them more opportunity to communicate each other while they have less time to communicate in a separate school.
Another reason is that by being around one another they are able to learn from each other since girls and boys may have different talent, attitude or habit naturally. Boys are more inclined to have wider general knowledge than girls so girls can learn from them. Girls also tend to careful of everything and boys can learn how to pay attention to details while they work in a classroom setting.
