Reflection Based on Commitment and Care

This Reflection orighinates from Education 350 class that was conducted by Dr. Saran.  We were asked to write an essay on the different technology that is available to students with learning disabilities that can be incorporated in teaching.  This peice of evidence connected to the standard of Commitment and Care which states that candidates practive social justice, with others, believe that all children can learn, hold high expectations themselves, and carry out sustained commitment to teaching and learning. I my essay, I wrote about the difficulties faced by students with learning disabilities, however, these students are still capable of learning because of the technologies available to them.]

A learning disability is a neurological disorder (damage to the nervous system).  Learning disorders are caused by a difference in the brain that affects how information is received, processed, or communicated.  Children with a learning disorder would have difficulties in spelling, reading, writing, math, speaking and recalling and organizing information if left to figure things out by their selves.  Adults and children with learning disabilities have trouble processing sensory information because they see, hear, and understand things differently.  Although, this condition cannot be cured, there are ways of how that individual can deal with this disability.  In this essay I showed commitment to care by believing that all children no matter what learning disability they may have can learn and I also held high expectation for them.

Commitment and Care will impact my future practices as an educator because I have learned that treating students as individuals is the key in caring for them no matter what learning disability they may have, as they validate their knowledge and experiences.  I have futher learned to inspire and challenge students to excel since a teacher that is commited and caring will interrelate comparatively towards her students.  I have since gained so much knowledge that will help me in my teaching career.  I believe that all children can lean if they are given a chance, since every child posses many talents and abilities.  As an aspiring teacher I have to look for those talents and abilities in my students so that I can challenge and inspire them to excel.
