What is Indigenous Knowledge?

Voices from the Academy

In the article, I came across the quote “…colonish tried to eradicate all manifestation of African culture by building the use of African language in instructional life…” and immediately I envision the double standard of the world. For instance, prayers are being exempted from public intuitions’ across the United States. However, when there is a tragedy the first thing we are told is to pray. Our children are being given negative signals, and we expect them to make wise decisions. “In God We Trust” is the words written on our currency yet, we act as though God does not exist. African American history is not being taught in school as much today. They have no idea where they are from and what their ancestors for. One month is set aside which I think is not enough for children for children to educate themselves about their history. After that month is passed there is not much being heard about in schools or the media about Black History? That leaves us to wonder where we are going in this society in which we live.
