Being a Hispanic in an all-black college has definitely been a challenge and on some levels annoying. A lot of the teachers have a completely radical view and almost victimize themselves and their students, I have bumped into teachers who just create a bubble around themselves, and I can’t stand it.

As a student I’ve learned to  just accept what the teacher is teaching and pass the test. I’ve barely had a class that I actually can relate to, because almost all of my classes just teach on Africa and African American history. I don’t lie when I say that I have even had a math class which associates everything into African American language.

I personally have been able to deal with this school through working with ALAS at Medgar Evers, which is where I can interact with the people who are Hispanic. I’ve enjoyed working with ALAS because its very diverse and we all understand each other.
