In 2009 begun my journey within my academic career. I chose mec having heard of its good programs. I never questioned the social atmosphere. Little did I know that I would be questioning my identity as a latino. Mec being a proud "predominately black" institute left me like many other hispanics in the margins. This was true till I heard of ALAS which welcomed me with open arms and made me feel comfortable with my identity. Alas brought me the support that I needed to supplement my studies.
